I would be remiss not to mention that today marks the 102 anniversary of the Wellington Avalanche that killed 96 people: 35 passengers and 63 Great Northern railroaders and postal employees. It was the disaster that eventually lead to the drilling of the 8-mile Cascade Tunnel.
