Ken, thank you for listing the consist of that trip. In those days I was interested only in the motive power.

One correction to your list of locomotives. The 4285 was not involved. The 4247 was road engine Wendel - Alturas - K. Falls - Dunsmuir. 4229 was helper Wendel - Alturas. 4211 was helper Alturas - Ambrose.

And one additional motive power note. 3804 failed somewhere short of Wendel but was able to limp in on her own. It would have been a very unique occasion if she had been able to run through to Alturas as originally planned, but sadly it was not to be. What a sight that would have been, an AC-9 and a Cab Forward double-heading!
