I agree with JB, Marty is NOT a bad guy. If his efforts seem self-serving, so what. he's done a
lot of good over the years in the interest of preservation. As to the YW and Mr. Hammond, while he
might think removing the unused portion of the line to be no big deal, the mill at the end of it
that still does some molding work could request a boxcar and the STB could summarily request the
replacement of the rail. While this might seem to be a local issue the question of common carrier
status is not taken lightly and is essentially granted under promise that such service will be
provided. This all becomes a matter of horsepower ie how much power and effort the complaining
party wishes to exert. No part of the line can be abandoned without notice, hearing and allowance
of a third party OFA, them's the rules.
