Always had a soft spot for that engine.

For anyone who doesn't know her history, she was built as Santa Cruz Portland Cement Company 2 by Porter in September 1909. Her builder # is 4390. She worked SCPC at Davenport until 1924 when the rail operations there changed. The 2 and her sister SCPC 1 were both sold to Bechtel Kaiser Gravel in Oroville where they were used to switch a large gravel pit. They shuffled cars out to the Western Pacific and Sacramento Northern in Oroville. Became Kaiser Company #2 at some point.

There was a fire that cost #1 her wood cab. I've been told that the 2's wood cab is largely original. #1 also survived and was at Rio Vista Jct. for many years.

#2 was retired in the mid 1960s and went through a few private owners before ending up at Pollardville.

Nice engine. She'll be a treat to see running. Thanks to everyone who's working hard to return her to steam.

Eugene
