Bright and sunny at the SLO baseball park hard by the tracks at 1 pm today. Over 100 people gathered to salute our departed Pismobum, Dan Ainsworth. Most were the adult baseball players over whom he had presided for the last few years, monitoring their performance team wise and individually with incredible stats as only our Dan could compile. There will never be another like him. And the tribute service was punctuated, appropriately by two Surfliners passing by and blasting their horns as if in blessing to him!! Everyone commented on it.
Rob Himoto, owner of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad was there, reminding me that I had introduced him to Dan years ago when Dan was volunteering at the SLO train station. Rob got the ultimate railfan' dream when he bought himself a real live honest to gawd shortline railroad to play with---none of that Lionel stuff for him!!
Dan is well known among the railfans for his web lurker Dome car site---

Dan's wife and son assure us that they want this site to carry on and are looking for someone to pick up the reins and manage it. If anyone is interested, contact son Craig at
pismobumm@msn.com or Dan's wife Francie at
pismofran@webtv.net
It was good to meet them. It was "good" to be there to say goodbye to an amazing guy. RIP, Pismobum.

PS--and by the way, that wonderful obit that we all saw was written by his son Craig.
