And how much public funds (aka taxpayer monies everyone finds themselves paying everyday) have been sunk into the NCRA for what in return ??????????????
Unless the "new" NWP is planning on buying newer & more fuel efficient locomotives (which I highly doubt that will ever happen), using trucks that are and continue to pollute far less than those older loco's is by far a better deal including the loss of the huge amount of monies thus far pocketed by the NCRA for what other purpose other than to give them a reason to get out of bed in the morning.
Meanwhile, us folks over here in Solano County can't seem to understand why is it that Hwy. 12 east towards I-5 can't be widened w/ safety improvements for those of us who depend on that highway while the NCRA continues to have it's pockets lined with taxpayer monies and nothing in the way of actual daily freight operations has happened nor is it the real likelyhood that such operation will ever happen.
Yeah, my soapbox is out & being used
Again, how much more taypayer $$$ are to be sunk into the black wastehole of the NCRA and it's so-called fantasy dreams of once again running freight operation on the old NWP ???????????
Yeah, maybe some weed cutting is happening here & there to appease those skeptics.
But I for one would like to see in print just how many remaining online shippers (not new potential shippers) are still loyal to the rail in getting their products to market or in recieving their distributed products.
