Very sad indeed. Local news reports claim the fire was set to cover up a robbery. For those who can't place it, it was the wooden building w/ western - style front & ' Rocky' Great Northern logo on the front. It has appeared in the background of many pictures of Skykomish Depot.
Regarding the claim of longest Washington state continous operation as a bar, The Brick Bar, in Roslyn also makes that claim. The Brick, however, even ran through prohibition courtesy of a still in the basement!!! ( There is just SOMETHING about Railroad towns & alcohol !?! )
