Last thing I read in one of the railfan publications was that with all the current emissions stuff that is required on totally new units, six axles are required to support the weight of such a critter, that is if you want a 3,000 hp V-16 locomotive, not some unit that has two or three cummings units that attempt to be an over the road, long day at run-8
locomotive.
