The wheel lathe 'point' I'm trying to make which is lost on you is that most of the axes that come to be found dull and in need of grinding are born from the constant state of easily distracted focus by those in charge. Always some other shiny toy that draws on the precious resources...resources that hard-working folks like you keep touting that people like us should just keep opening our checkbooks to replenish.

You also glossed over Dave Stuart's inability to account for donations and where they went. If that's the mentality, then how can anyone be expected to give hard-earned cash? It's a really pretty train they finally got together, that's for sure. I've looked at your pictures probably a dozen times since you posted them. You could not have asked for a better day for photography. Yet it's not enough to unfold my cash.

It's been brought to light here in this forum already that OERM's inability to follow their own collections management policy and an inability to consistently stay focused and finish projects drives people away. Harry's been working on the 2601 for 40 years!

Get strong leadership to say 'NO' to new projects, and say "NOW" to finish those already started. Stop appealing for funds all the damned time when a casual visit reveals so many decades-old projects still unfinished; both physical plant and otherwise, yet also shows so many new projects started. Reduce the museum's liability to personal injury suits. Look around at all the un-monitored hazards, and turn your attention to them, instead of dreaming about what color to paint something!

I could go on, but you will most likely deflect.
