Regarding the Seahawk train vs. the House; yes it's true, and a real comedy of errors. The house movers called BNSF dispatch in Ft. Worth & were told to"... go ahead, there are no movements scheduled through that area. " Of course, the Seahawk trains were not scheduled runs; they would depart King St. station 45 minutes or so after the Seahawks lost the game.It was later learned that the driver of the house - moving truck was legally drunk AND had a suspended license.Oops...
Through my contacts @ Amtrak, I was able to tour the cab of the F - 40 that performed the condo conversion. Both windshield panels were broken in, much debris ( wood, insulation ) inside cab, & several dents in the nose. One 2 X 4 still protruded from the nose. Good thing the engineer knew enough to duck...
BTW, the crossing in question has since been replaced with an overpass.
