Aug 2, 1985. 7347 was the middle unit on BN 597 that hit a gravel train head on in dark teritory at Broomfield, CO. The brakeman on 597 misread the train register book at Utah Jct as to whether the gravel train had already arrived Utah Jct. The collision was under US36 on a limited sight curve. Interestingly, if the gravel train had not been going twice the allowed speed for his tonnage, they might had seen each other on straight track and might have been able to stop in time. 7347 had just been repainted back in gray/red
