Scanner chatter here this evening revealed no signs of renewed trouble. Trains are still moving, and no reports of trouble from my UP sources. But that UP washout site has been an ongoing project, rock trains dumping there frequently, culvert getting massively reworked. They were already in the midst of a large tie and ballast project up and down the SI, so much of the route has been a work zone for the past couple of months. A lot of MofW progress was made during the CP strike, when hardly anything was moving on the SI.
This week's storm track brought our temperatures down about 20 degrees below normal, and left fresh snow on the mountains. Been an unusually cool and wet spring here overall, not at all the scenario presented by the network news tonight, where they reported that the U.S. is experiencing its warmest spring on record. That might be true east of the Rockies and south of the Humboldt, but up here in the Northwest, it's been nothing like what Brian Williams and Diane Sawyer claim.
