RailPower had a smaller version (built on a switcher frame) of their hybrid "Green Goat" which was the "Green Kid".

Snail - rotary plow power unit
Slug - loco with traction motors only - requires a "mother" for power
Calf - cabless switcher unit (originally built drawbar connected to a "cow" with a cab)
Drone - old loco used only as an RCU platform - no prime movers or traction motors
Sled - old loco used only for more independent braking effort in switching - no prime movers or traction motors
Mule - nickname for towing/rack locos at Panama Canal

Keeping with the NS horse theme:

Gelding?

Donkey? (not to be confused with a logging donkey engine)

After all - "road apples" are "green"

:-)
