When I worked the Culver City job, it went to work at six pm at Culver City six days a week Sunday through Friday. The job worked that way from at least 1969 through about 1980, when the job was consolidated with the day job out of Butte Street, and started at J Yard.

The Culver City job covered all westside branches: serving Alla-Inglewood, Alla-Venice, Santa Monica, Sawtelle, Beverly Hills, to the West Hollywood team track on Santa Monica Blvd. Power in the early days was ususally an 1100 clase SW-8, which was required to have a PE whistle to comply with Beverly Hills no "airhorn" policy. Later, when I worked this out of Butte Street, power was usually an SW 1500.

Industries included the Pasta works in Culver City, the French Fry plant in Venice/Santa Monica off of Washington, Wonder Bread in Beverly Hills, delivering construction steel for the Blue Whale to the West Hollywood Team track, steel for wheelchairs to Sawtelle, and lumber, or occasional liquor deliveries to Inglewood and Santa Monica.

Interesting stops, Marina del Rey, McCabes Guitar Shop, The Troubador, The massage parlor upstairs on Santa Monica at the West Hollywood team on the second floor, where the girls all came out to wave.

Most famous crew members: Termite and Jay Bell (pre coast days).
