Chuck, it's pretty simple, Tobasco confused the Siskiyou line with the Coos Bay branch. The siskiyou line is the origional SP main from California to Portland. When the Natron cutoff was completed from Springfield Jctn to Black Butte, thru Klamouth Falls it became a branch and was mainly used for local traffic. Years ago on ocassion the SP would route passanger trains on the Siskiyou line if the Natron cutoff was out of service.
