Good story Ken. Many years ago I remember publioshing a Don Henderer story of when a local circus's truck broke down carrying an elephant. The drivers took the elephant off and chained it to a nearby tree on the Coos Bay Branch while they went for help. It was near the SP tracks and the crew of a train came around a curve at night and saw this elephant in their headlights. They swore off drinking when they got to the crew hotel when they told everybody they were seeing elephants.
