View looks southwest, away from Sandpoint. Train is approaching East Algoma. Steve, aren't the nighttime acoustics there just great? When the timing is right, close to midnight, you can hear Amtrak 7 (if it's one time) moaning its way into town from Colburn and Boyer, while a UP honks it way along the Pend Oreille River near Dover, and a BNSF approaches from the south (railroad west) like in your shot, and perhaps an MRL is rumbling around the shore of Lake Pend Oreille. I often wonder how many of the people who have built big new homes on the hillside overlooking the Sandpoint bridge did so because of the trains.
