About 30 years ago the National Park Service did an extensive site assessment of the EBT for possible creation of a National Historic Park which would have included all the elements of early US industrial development including "steam" and the railroad. It made for interesting reading but has since slipped out of my hands. The politics of "Steamtown" in Scranton, PA pretty much trashed the idea.
