The extension is funded but is being held up over a NIMBY lawsuit regarding the project's EIR. Meanwhile, OERM is hoping to raise the money needed to build the new crossings and track necessary to reach the recently-built Perris platform.

They were unable to settle the lawsuit, and as of April, the parties were headed to trial.
