I would not recommend it, the temperature is around 200 deg from the exhaust of engines. The temp change usually happens withing a minute and a half. The engines use up most of the available oxygen which will cause suffocation. Even with a flash light it is very difficult to see inside the big hole after a train passes. I have sat inside a locomotive in helper service for an hour and it got very hot and I went through two air bottles while sitting in and enclosed cab.
