In 1986 (or there abouts) Santa Fe moved their entire collection to Sacramento. At the time, the CSRM was a well funded operation at the time, but with completly incompetant management in the name of Walter P. Gray III. The great collection was allowed to rot, be vandalized, and moved out of the SP shop area a few pounds at the time in shopping carts.
Chances to aquire the SP buildings were ignored by Gray and valuable pieces of shop equipment offered to the museum were cut up.
Point being, if a supposedly well run (in truth it never has been) and funded operation cannot care for such valuable pieces of equipment, what appears to be a shoestring operation in Texas and now Oklahoma will not survive. My guess is that, in the not to far distant future, that equipment will be homeless.
How in the hell can they even call themselves a museum? To say the preserve is just so much hot air or passing methane when you look at what the did to those two SP F units. The gods of Santa Fe must be covering their eyes and holding their nose.
