Talgos to Reno

I was telling some friends about a short trip my wife and I took to Reno and the subject turned to rail service from the Bay Area to Reno over Donner. I expressed a thought that Talgos such as those in service on the Cascade corridor might be a good fit. One of my friends, an ex-railroader, said Talgos cannot operate in mountainous territory or in heavy snow. I have only ridden the Cascades once and cannot offer any opinion. Does anyone know if Talgos can or can notoperate in snow or mountains? Never mind the idea of Reno service, that's for another thread.
