I was in Cambodia last year and saw a notice that when the rebuilding of the railroad is finished, so will be the bamboo carts. The Toll Company of Australia has a lease on the railroad and part of their agreement with the government is to rehabilitate the rail line, increase train speeds and reintroduce passenger trains. It appears that a cornfield meet between a diesel freight train and a bamboo cart is something the Toll Company has problems with.
