My sister and her husband, Rex, will be coming into Chicago on the Southwest Chief (SC), and connecting with the Hoosier State (HS) to go on to Indianapolis. The Amtrak web site shows “No checked baggage” for the HS. So Rex wonders what he needs to do for the two bags they’ll have (in addition to their carry-ons). What kind of baggage accommodations are there on the HS, and how should he handle their bags? He’s assuming he must pick them up after arriving on the SC and transfer them to the HS himself. Might there be Amtrak personnel available to help? Also - will the SC arrive in a location near the departure platform for the HS, or will they have to walk quite a distance between the two trains? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
