I had to laugh at the connecting rods on the steam locomotive in the cartoon. While the cartoonist's point is that the project is moving so slowly that the snail is gaining on the locomotive, the relationship between the driving wheels and connecting rods on the locomotive is such that it is impossible for the drivers to turn at all!
