Lake County Railroad

While driving to Lakeview for the Holiday I came across a dumped chip car in the canyon north of Alturas. It was on the hillside below the tracks. It appeared to have had its side cut off and its contents (chips) were on fire/smoldering. Just prior to the car there was a sign on 395 warning of a controlled burn. The tracks above appeared (from my vantage) to be intact--Anyone know what and when it happened?

Additionally I check out the engine facilities in Lakeview. I noticed the locomotive shed was "daylighted" and neither end of the pit has doors anymore. One of Modoc Northerns GEs was there coupled to 700 (GP7 ex weyerhauser owned by the county) and a Black GP49(?)

No SW1000 was seen--isn't it in Lakeview?

Lastly last time through Tule Lake both SD9's were still there any rumors of disposistion?

Stay Safe Tom
