Only the trains have been changed---Santa Cruz Nov. 23, 2012

The loss of the Casa Del Rey hotel, destroyed in the '89 quake, was in the left background
but the Coconut Grove and the Casino are still there. The Grove was a venue for the big bands and during WWII it served as a recovery location for injured Nave men. Innumerable passenger trains have stopped here, from trains coming thru the mountains from Los Gatos to 50's and 60's Suntans coming thru Watsonville and the recent Big Trees beach trains.

November of 2012 would see the addition of the Santa Cruz & Monterey Bay trains currently running as "The Train to Christmas Town" seen here with FP9A #82 wearing the colors of contractor Iowa Pacific. And the Coconut Grove witnessing the passing on this past Nov. 23rd.
