While I can quote you the gearing on 80-3 and 90-3 Shays, 2.05 to 1 and the Pacific Coast
type, 2.41 to 1, I don't know the gearing on 70-3 types. However, with standard ratio,
the tractive effort is something like 30,350 lbs., while the ones with the optional lower
gearing give a t.e. of 34,000 lbs. I believe that I have those figures correct and hope
that this helps a little.
