Pacific Railroad Society is shooting for running a LA to Bakersfield Special Train in April 2014. Don't know what the routing will be (either Soledad Canyon or Cajon Pass). Details still to be worked out.
Another thing that has discouraged Passenger Special Trains in general is the big increase in insurance.
