Thanks, Peedex, for bringing back the memories. Though I had been firing SP&S-crewed steam powered passenger service since 06/11/67 this was only my third trip on SP&S diesel powered passenger service. Because of the way the crew assignments lined up it was the following year before I fired passenger for my father on the SP&S Third Sub-Division. Many of the tired Vapor-Clarkson steam generators on the EMDs were a pain in the neck to work with compared to firing the January 1925 Baldwin Prairie on the Vernonia Branch.
