Regarding UP r-o-w in Fullerton, Metrolink has possession part of it and has re-installed rails east of the depot area for their Laguna Niguel to Fullerton trains. It branches off the Surfline north of E. Orangethorpe Avenue and runs on ex-UP r-o-w inside the Surfline curve past Lemon Street and continues straight into the Amtrak/Metrolink Station, stub ending as the most southerly rails. The old UP alignment crossed Walnut Avenue just past the electrical substation towards Harbor Blvd, crossing Harbor via a bridge. As the old UP r-o-w proceeds westerly, parts of it are absorbed by a park, parts are empty earth, and westerly past S. Richman Avenue, it is joined to the BNSF and used as storage track. Going still further west, it used to cross the Santa Fe at Basta (Commonwealth Avenue), continuing northerly to industries and up to La Habra. Metrolink has also installed a stub end storage track between the 91 Freeway and Orangethorpe. It is all visible in google maps, though parts of it are not shown as complete.
