For those interested in such things, I have been advised that the BNSF at Lincoln, NE, and the UP at Cheyenne, WY, have both placed their rotary snow plows on stand-by as a result of the current storm that's expected to drop 1 to 2 feet of snow in places in the upper Great Plains.

Tehachapi station is reported to have about a foot of snow on the ground. Both Highway 58 over Tehachapi Pass and Interstate 5 over the Grapevine were closed at last report (10 AM-ish).
