The frame on JPBX 501 (ex-SP GP9R 3842) was bent about 15 years ago when The other GP9R owned by Caltrain slammed into the 501 during some switching in San Francisco (as far as I remember being told). Apparently the impact also broke some of the prime mover mounts to the frame as well as mis-aligning the armature in the main generator. The unit still ran, so both went light to San Jose where the damaged mounts and generator were discovered. Fortunately, they didn't put the 501/3842 under any serious load, so the unit didn't self-destruct. It has sat ever since as a parts source for the other GP9R and maybe the MP15DCs.
