As a former employee of Watco, and having worked with a number of other former Watco employees from various Watco railroads, turn and run as far away as you can and don't look back. They are a cheap outfit in every aspect of everything, from pay to lack of equipment maintenance, etc., etc. Radios are held together with rubber bands, airtests (an FRA requirement) are only to be done when it suits the company, you are expected to do a lot of company work without getting paid, etc., etc. They may be getting better, according to some, but they have so far to go to catch up with any decent railroad out there that you'll probably die before they do. I would recommend doing some online searches for Watco lawsuits/employee blogs, etc. It will be a real eye opener for you. They are a reviled outfit, and the reasons for that are plentiful. Unless you have to go to work for them, I would recommend just about any other railroad on the planet other than them.
