I think the engines you are referring to were actually owned by the Texas and New Orleans. They were ex-SP 4-6-2s rebuilt with a streamline look similar to the Daylights. T&NO 650-652 were their class P-14 and they were used on the Sunbeam and the Hustler (both Houston - Dallas). Ironically, the Hustler was the slower of the two trains, making all local stops.
