I just wanted to let everyone know that the Crossett Western #10 Alco 2-8-2T will be returning to steam here in a few weeks to the BYCX in Yacolt, WA. However, do not get too excited. The return on this engine will be short lived. It will be lucky to run a month let along pass its FRA inspection. Leading the so called team for this engine is Luke Johnson, Former CMO of MRSR. (Who was fired for reasons I will not get into here) He is the one responsiable for all the major problems with the engines that now CMO Stathi Pappas has been having to fix along with restoring his own engine. Other members of the CW 10 team include a reject steam mechanic from the Grand Canyon railroad as well as a bunch of "kids" that don't know what their doing. Way to go guys... great line up of mechanics. Can't hold a candle to the group of people at MRSR. Also the team has been uning inferior materials in the rebuilding of the engine. They will not hold up to the stresses of the engine. Also they have not done any flexi staybolt inspections. This is completely against FRA regs. Their are also several other FRA deffects with this engine. The engine should be condemed based on the FRA rules. If the FRA allows this engine to run, god help us all. It will be the end of steam operation as we know it. I would highly recomment staying away from this operation.
