The GCOR rules stipulate that life vests must be worn by all crew members immediately after acknowledging the warnings. In the event that the crew member does not have a life vest, the seat cushion can be used as a flotation device. Also sandbags are secured to the front pilot in case water goes above the rail. While not required by the GCOR, it is considered good form to have a rubber duckie on your person at all times.
