Monday afternoon, I was watching the Portland and Western GP9 Black Widow 1801 hook up to another unit and switch some cars, just south of the diamond at the P&W/Coos Bay Rail Link crossing. I had just seen the CBL, with three units, leaving the Eugene Yard, heading out of town with their MTs. I knew they would meet soon, but I had to hurry go pick up wife from work right then. When we came back by, the P&W was nosed up to the CBL units, the third one, I think. The crews were out inspecting. I couldn't see much more then, but this morning I went by the P&W, and could see the bent plow and steps of the old Black Widow, my favorite local engine. Must not have been serious to the CBL, as they are gone out of town. The crossing is only protected by stop signs on the P&W, and they cross there many times a day. Maybe a mechanical failure, maybe they just stopped too far into the diamond.
