Wow, it just gets better.
Still, we have no actual confirmation of the facts about F&W article. And now, a conspiracy by transit planners to destroy the railroads?
Meanwhile, back in the "fact based" universe. the Metrolink Pasadena sub, former ATSF 2nd District has no further use as a freight line west of Irwindale (Miller). There are and were no long term "carload" rail freight customers west of Irwindale, that made use of the line for that purpose realistic.
In the "alternative" fact based universe, due to the existing Gold Line and Citrus extension, over 45,000 people a day will not have need to use the gridlocked 210 and/or Pasadena Freeway. Most normal people who suffer these commutes will likely think this is and/or will be a good thing. And, finally, Carl Ragoza will finally rest in peace with the sound of nearby trolley horns.....
Given the efforts that VCTC made under Ginger Gherardi to safeguard and preserve the Santa Paula Branch, and the long term travel needs in the 126 corridor, VCTC would be very foolish to allow this asset to disappear.
Anything is possible, Ginger has been retired a while now from running VCTC, Darren hasn't exactly been a visionary leader, and the Board has been dealing with serious revenue problems. But, can anyone actually confirm this one story, with any other reports or sources? Anybody heard from Dave?
Just the facts mam..... Where's Joe Friday when you need him?
