While that seems only right; it is not likely to do any damn good, even if they had to pay a fortune.
Many of these environmental vigilante organizations get federal grant money to support their legal activities; as well as special legal standing to sue, even when they are not personally involved in any way. So they won't mind it a bit. And neither will their lawyers, nor NCRA's lawyers either; as all will ultimately receive even more federal dollars.
Of course, such special privileges given to private unelected people; only serves to undercut any reasonably balanced action to protect the environment, by duly elected or appointed officers of government. They can't do it, without being sued by someone!
That all goes back to a series of federal laws enacted in the 70's. Funny how not much was ever said about it in the media back then - I guess they didn't think that enabling such blatant extremism was important enough to cover.
Nuttin's changed! ---- as a people, we still find out very little of what our scumbag political leaders are really doing -- that is, until we end up holding their stink bag.
But in this case; ultimately, it is you the taxpayer, that pays - twice - no matter what; 1st to pay the federal grant; 2nd to pay NCRA's legal fees. The only difference here is in whether the 2nd part is funneled through the State, or through the federal government.
And after all that - the grand finale -- you get to enjoy the loss of all the scrapped non-functioning, legally failed transportation projects that could have benefited the public, had they not been sued into extinction.
Ain't extremism grand!
