New cars in Oakland and a special train tomorrow

A second Caltrans Comet car (5013) has arrived in the Amtrak Oakland yard, along with Amtrak Horizon diner 53510 in Amtrak California paint. The first Comet car (5008)is named "The Redwood" and the 5013 is "The Citrus Belt Limited." It would appear that the cars will be named for regional California trains of the past. The 53510 has no name and is probably still an Amtrak car as there is no "CDTX" lettering on it.

Supposedly, a special train (symboled Amtrak "968") will operate tomorrow from Oakland to Sacramento, consisting of F40/cabbage car CDTX 90218, Comet coach 5008, and a P42. Don't know when it's scheduled to leave, just where in Sacramento it's going, or the exact purpose. An educated guess would be to Old Sacramento, so the Caltrans folks can admire their new toys.

I say "supposedly" because I've been around way too long to believe anything until it actually happens.
