I rember "spearing" orders at Hobart. We had various whistle codes regarding the particular track for which we wanted Hobart to line us: Pedro Main, ATSF Hobart Yard, and pocket siding for hot cars which Santa Fe picked up. Old-old heads (men of 1900-1910) told me that the tower was originally of wood and on the west side of the Pedro Branch. The station (named location in a TT) about .25 miles nprth of Hobart was named Manhattan. Why no one knew.
