Whoa! That pic illustrates all that was going on in the mid-90's on the newly acquired operation known then as East Portland Traction now the East Portland Division of the Oregon Pacific.
On the far left we find the recently refurbished SW-1 #100...to her right is the original PTC GMC flatbed #16 that came as part of the "package". This truck was retired several years ago and sold to a farmer whose operation is adjacent to OPR's Molalla Division who still uses it regularly. When acquired in 1991 the 1980 truck was eleven years old yet had less than 15,000 miles on the odometer! Talk about a low mileage one owner vehicle.
To the right we have the original "SamTrak" train with the GE 25-tonner #2501 and to the right of that is the former Chelatchie Prairie #007 GE 45 tonner which would be refurbished as SamTrak 4501 and replace the 25 tonner.
In the background rising out of the dirt is the masonry wall of the future EPTC/OPR headquarters/diesel shop building which was completed in 1996 and replaced the temporary caboose office.
Thanks for a look back to the "roots" of the present Oregon Pacific operation.
