Paul Dorpat's "Now & Then" Skykomish

His narrative states that Sky had a roundhouse. My memory from the Forties includes only a rectangular engine house, fairly close to the grade crossing. The foundation may still be visible. Likewise, the substation foundation. Steamers were turned at the wye further East. Suggest searching memories and photo histories.

Appleyard received much less railfan attention, but I think it also used a wye and an all-purpose enginehouse.

This photo-story is worth keeping for future visits to Sky. The major buildings have survived well. The utility poles are now much taller.
