CC&C Mayfield Bridge

Years ago there was a shortline in western Washington, the Cowlitz, Chehalis, and Cascade, that had a really scary timber trestle near Mayfield. They would have one Engineer start the train across the trestle at a very low speed, then he would bail off. Another Engineer would catch it on the opposite side. This line was abandoned in 1955. They never owned a diesel.

One of their locos, #15, operates today on tourist line "Chehalis-Centralia railroad" south of Chehalis WA. Another, #25 is displayed in a Centralia WA park.

A google search turned up quite a bit on the Cowlitz, Chehalis, and Cascade, but no pictures of the bridge.
