Years ago, this was the Kettle Turn, that went to Kettle Falls, BNSF sold & leased off the lines beyond Chewelah quite some time ago to the Kettle Falls International (KFR) an Omnitrax operation if I recall correctly. As part of the sale agreement, KFR had to install a very long passing track, just south of Chewelah where the two roads swap trains each night. Chewelah turn departs Yardley in the evening Monday through Friday (Saturdays were dropped a few years ago when hours of service rules were changed). Train returns the following mornings.
