SP 2720/SD&A-SD&AE 104 has been at Campo, 45 miles east of San Diego right on the Mexican border, for over 30 years now in custody of PSRMA. It is part of the permanent collection, though the damage had already been done at Del Mar. Campo is a high desert valley, so further deterioration is somewhat limited. SP 2353 was in much better shape having been in the Imperial Valley, making it the choice years ago to restore over 104. But current circumstances (lack of volunteers, money, crew, turning facilities and ridership) don't support rebuilding and operating a good sized steam engine.
