As a matter of fact last Saturday 12/30 I was driving with my Daddy between Truckee and Verdi on the overland Route and I saw in the middle of a UP Grain Train movement the UP 1983 WP Heritage Locomotive as one of the helper locomotives.

Is it actually common for the UP to do this?
