The " old train cars " mentioned, all 28 of them, ran over Stampede Pass today, enroute from Seattle to Pasco, WA. That was the longest all - passenger train I have ever seen. Amtrak wisely assigned 4 units as power. Tomorrow's run features more rare trackage, as the special will run from Pasco to Wishram, then down the Oregon Trunk and Deschutes River Cyn to Bend,OR.
