Depends on how much grinding you need to do. As an example, my peanut grinder wheel can last for several jobs or be worn out in half a job.

There are places that I would suspect they would go through wheels like most of us go through candy, especially if there is corrugation in the track from wheel slip. Where they are just dressing up the rail, you might go many miles before needing a change.
